The City of Conroe recognizes the value that arts and culture programs bring to our community, so a grant has been established in order to support them.
Conroe was initially established to ship local tobacco but quickly expanded as a center of commerce and industry during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Following oil’s discovery in 1931, Conroe quickly transformed into a bustling business community with wholesalers, retailers, workers and workers all coming back into town in short order. The discovery triggered another economic revival; within weeks oil wholesalers, retailers and workers began pouring back in bringing economic revitalization.
